Welcome

Cecilia Cheung was born in Hong Kong. At the age of 10, her father left home in order to tend to the triad business. As an international student, she traveled to Australia and furthered her studies at Melbourne's Grace College. While there, she took a part time job as a waitress in one of China Town's local restaurants. Soon after, because she felt home sick, she decided to return to Hong Kong.

Cecilia Cheung began the road to stardom where she first appeared in a Lemon-Tea (Hi-C) advertisement. Her talent, beauty and charm was noticed by Chu Wing Lung (no longer her manager). Cecilia's family was reluctant at first to the proposition, but Lung promised that he would take care of Cecilia and wouldn't let her go astray. It wasn't long before she skyrocketed into fame with her first film, King of Comedy (1999). Cecilia herself has said that she wasn't satisfied with her performance in the film and hopes that she could do better in her next role. She feels that the most memorable shot from her first film was where she had to cry (recall the hostess bar). It was her most memorable shot because it was hard for her to gather up this kind of emotion. According to Cecilia, she had no experience whatsoever on which to base her character's attitude towards men. Her singing career was launched shortly after her first movie. She released her first album titled Any Weather in July of 1999. This was the beginning of her successful career as we know it now.

Within the same year, she co-starred with Richie Ren in her second new movie, Fly Me to Polaris. This touching film won her 3 spots over at the H.K. Film Awards in the following categories: Best new actress of 1999, best new singer/soundtrack of 1999, and best new performer honors. Finally, she ended the year with the completion of her third movie, Legend of Speed (starring Mr. Ekin Cheng).

In 2000, she completed: Tokyo Raiders, Twelve Nights, and Help!!!

In 2001, she completed: Wu Yen, Failan, Master Q 2001, Everyday is Valentine, Shaolin Soccer, The Legend of Zu, and Para Para Sakura.

In 2002, she completed: Second Time Around, Mighty Baby, and The Lion Roars.

In 2003, she completed: Cat and Mouse, Honesty, Running on Karma, and Lost in Time.

In 2004, she has so far completed: Fantasia and Sex and the Beauties.
